Christian, do you think Imitation Of Christ by Thomas Kempis is a bit "extreme? (advocating Asceticism?)?

It is extreme. Sometimes you have to go to the extreme to find God. The book is not for everyone, just those with a really strong desire for the ultimate or those who have not been able to "see God" through more moderate means.
