Why do some people live comfortable lives while others live their whole life suffering?

Why do some people have money and homes and family while others have spent their entire lives begging for food and die cold, alone and hungry? Why doesn't god intervene? is god not loving and just and good? Seems like a cruel joke sometimes. where is god to perform miracles when you need em? why does he reward the greedy and 'sinners' with all the wealth, while children to live off the street or die of malnutrition? or is it that god can't help everyone that is suffering, only some of them, isn't that just luck?
