Disability claim with a Pre-existing Heart condition?
The actual medical problem is only a part of the picture. What is more important is how it impacts your ability to function. They also take into account things such as your education level, type of past work and age. From your own description, it does not sound like this disables you and prevents you from functioning. If you have another surgery, it would have to prevent you from working for over 12 months, and most people recover from cardiac surgery in 3-6 months. Also, to be "disabled", you have to be unable to perform ANY type of work, not just your recent job. If you are over 50 or better yet over 55, then it is a little bit easier to be found disabled. If you are in "good physical health" as you describe, why would you ever want to give up working, making money, and having a life in exchange for the small amount you would receive on disability if you didn't have too? Most people on disability would much rather be working doing any type of job if they were able to.
