Effluent pump and float help.?

I have an effluent pump with a piggyback float switch,The float switch plugs into an outlet, and the pump plugs into the back of that. I need to hard wire the pump and float, and am trying to figure out how to do that. I already wired all the black wires and white wires together, and tested. It just ran and would not shut off.Any ideas how to wire this? The pump is a 120v pump.
