Need advice bad!!!!?

I just got a straight perm and it should last for four months. I love it and i can wash my anytime i want. My hair is naturally frizzy and curly, and now no matter if i just woke up, it is still shiny and tangle free! i love it sooo much! However, i have been reading on yahoo! answers that it is bad for your hair. I got mine done real cheap for $45 cause i know the lady personally. So far the hair is great. and it stays straight woithoiut flat ironing or regularly straighting it. I use good mosturingzing and strengthing conditoner and shampoo that is like $13 per bottle. I think that i take wonderful care of my hair. Is it still bad ofr me to have a straight perm? Also, my hair is usually coarse and thick and not easy to break or damage (when curly). it is like a black girl's hair, but i am portugese. Is it still bad, after all the work and money i put into strengthing and conditoning my hair, that i have got a perm?
